Document Space / Network Peer

There are two types of document space in FileSphere, local and network:

Local Document Space

A local document space is always named ‘Document Space’ and is local to a particular computer, even though the physical document storage can still be on a network drive to enable centralised backup. This Document Space may be hidden if the organisation wishes to maintain central document spaces only.

Network Peer

A Network Peer is a document space on your organisation's network. It may be your organisation’s central document space or the document space of another FileSphere user.

You can send documents to, and receive documents from, Network Peers.

To easily access documents on Network Peers, you can create an icon link to them (providing you have the appropriate security permissions), which is displayed below your Document Space.  This enables you to view the Network Peer's Document Space and documents in the same way that you access your own Document Space and documents.

You can set any Network Peer to be your default Document Space, which case, the documents in your Templates space and Shredder will be associated with that Network Peer (i.e. if you delete a document from your local Document Space you will not be able to see it in the Shredder unless you set your local Document Space to be the default space.
